Formatting a group of words or a paragraph uses more advanced tools:
Bullets
Bullets can help visually organize brief lists into "Bullet Points", and can also be used to organize information into hierarchies:
Breakfast
Cereal
Orange Juice
Lunch
Sandwich
Coffee
Dinner
Salad
Turkey
Jello
Text Wrap
This allows text to appear BESIDE a graphic, rather than just inline, above or below it. This uses space on the page much more efficiently and effectively.
OpenOffice: Select a graphic and right mouse click it. You'll generally find an option to apply a text wrap to it.
Wikispaces: Select a graphic in EDIT mode and change it's settings
Tables
Tables are like mini spreadsheets within a word-processing document. They can help organize the appearance of information, and can allow additional style options like borders or shading.
OpenOffice: Use INSERT TABLE
WIkispaces: Click the INSERT TABLE button in the Editing Toolbar
Hanging Indent
ONLY POSSIBLE IN OPENOFFICE
Created by adjusting the "First Line Indent" and "Left Margin" settings in the main ruler, the hanging indent format can help visually organize information like definitions.
Note - You can "simulate" the hanging indent format using TABLES in Wiki or Googledocs
